Established in June 1989, the Fillmore County Development
Corporation is a non-profit corporation that fosters economic
development within the county and local communities. In addition
to recruiting new industries to locate in Fillmore County,
the Corporation also works with retention and expansion of
existing businesses and industries. The Fillmore County Development
Corporation is also the county's lead organization on issues
such as transportation, leadership, tourism, and housing.
To enhance the quality of life for Fillmore County by advancing
and strengthening the economic health, civic, industrial,
commercial, and agricultural interests, while improving community
pride and promoting active participation by all citizens.
The backbone of the Fillmore County Development Corporation
is the volunteers who work on the many committees dedicated
to the betterment of Fillmore County. Along with the
Fillmore County Development Board of Directors, there are
eight committees working to improve the quality of life for Fillmore County citizens.

The Fillmore County Development Corporation with the assistance
of Nebraska Public Power District completed a Targeted Industry
Study in April of 2007. Considering this study, the
resources available in Fillmore County, labor force, present
industries and Highway 81 expressway that runs north-south
in the County the FCDC Board will target the following:
- Warehousing & Logistics
- Build
ethanol cluster
- Maintenance
of trucks and railcars
- Supply
chain manufacturing
These categories have been chosen due to their on-going,
year-round growth and stability and the resources available
in the area. FCDC also recognizes the importance of
health care and retail businesses as desirable and beneficial
to the economic development of Fillmore County.
The GOALS that evolve from these targeted industrial categories
include, but are not limited to:
- Goal: Recruit new businesses to the
county that will create jobs.
- Goal: Assist
existing businesses to retain and expand jobs.
- Goal: Attract
people to the area, increase the workforce
- Goal: Communicate and educate both leadership
and residents about the importance of economic development
to the future of our region
The Board of Directors of the Fillmore County Development
Corporation is made up of fifteen members of the Corporation. These
members are elected as Directors for a three-year term at
the annual meeting. The Executive Board consists of
a President, Vice-president, Secretary, Treasurer and Past
President chosen from the Board of Directors. Individuals,
businesses, utilities, and county and city government entities
make up the membership.
Membership is open to all persons, organizations or entities
interested in furthering the purposes of the Corporation
and is offered at a variety of dues levels. The membership
year is from January 1 through December 31 of each year.

The Fillmore County ODEGEO Leadership Project is a countywide
program available to all residents. The purpose of
the program is to identify, educate and develop leaders within
Fillmore County. Over the last thirteen years there
have been over 135 graduates.
